The Resident University seminar on Neighbourhood Policing and Neighbourhood Management: How Safe is My Neighbourhood? with Police Chief Constable Paul Scott-Lee, Bishop David Urquhart and Birmingham City Council Director of Policy Jon Bright is at The Gatehouse, The Bond Warehouse, Fazeley Street, Digbeth on Wednesday 13 June 2007 9.30am to 1.30pm.

You may have read about 'neighbourhood policing' or seen invitations to neighbourhood tasking meetings issued by the police.  But what will this new way of organising the police mean in practice for neighbourhoods in Birmingham?

How will neighbourhood policing fit in with the new style neighbourhood management that the City Council is bringing in?  Are we sure what a neighbourhood is anyway?  Just who are our neighbours?  Are we in control of neighbourhood safety?  How safe is your neighbourhood?

The seminar is a chance to find out more.  Speakers include Police Chief Constable Paul Scott-Lee, Bishop David Urquhart and Jon Bright, Birmingham City Council's Director of Policy.  They will be joined by a panel of residents including Councillor Salma Yaqoob (Respect councillor for Sparkbrook), Linda Hines (of Perry Common Community Watch) and Rev Carver Anderson (of Bringing Hope).  You will have a chance to ask questions in order to find out how neighbourhood policing might be made to work and take part in electronic voting on the issues.

DIRECTIONS

The event takes place at The Gatehouse at the Bond Warehouse on Fazeley Street, Digbeth  MAP.  There is car parking close by and The Bond is a 10 to 15 minute walk from city centre buses and Moor Street and New Street stations.
